Mattress forming a surface (L) to lie on across its length and width has many adjoining core parts lying in the direction of the mattress's length which can be removed and which extend across the whole width. They are all enclosed by a shell body. A high variability of the course of the firmness throughout the lying surface is achieved, in that the core parts have at least two opposite-facing laying surfaces of different firmnesses (I,II,III, Iv) from which the surface on which to lie down on can be composed by turning selected core parts.

Bei einer Matratze, die eine Liegefläche (L) mit einer Länge und einer Breite bildet, mit mehreren, in Richtung der Länge lösbar aneinander liegenden, sich jeweils über die volle Breite erstreckenden Kernteilen, die gemeinsam von einem Hüllkörper umschlossen sind, wird eine hohe Variabilität des Härteverlaufs über die Liegefläche (L) dadurch erreicht, dass die Kernteile wenigstens zwei einander gegenüber liegende Auflageflächen unterschiedlicher Härte (I, II, III, VI) aufweisen, aus denen die Liegefläche (L) durch Wenden der Kernteile wahlweise zusammensetzbar ist.
