[origin: WO2005123558A1] The invention relates to a method and a device for winding a thread bobbin (1). According to said invention, a thread is guided back and forth during the traversing stroke (6), before being deposited on the rotatively driven thread bobbin (1) and the thread is wound until a final diameter of the thread bobbin has been attained. To obtain a specified partial quantity of wound thread on the thread bobbin, the thread is temporarily guided outside the traversing stroke at least once before the final diameter of the thread bobbin (1) has been attained, to form a loop of thread (15) on the end face of the thread bobbin (1). The thread bobbin (15) with said loop of thread on its end face is characterised in that it is possible to pull defined partial quantities of the wound thread in succession from the thread bobbin (1) once the loop of thread has been severed.
