Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2006000507A1] The invention relates to an arrangement (1) comprising a tachograph (2), an external mobile data memory device (3) with an external second interface (10), said interface corresponding with the first interface (9), for providing data (50) transmission. The invention also relates to a method for transmitting data in an arrangement of the aforementioned type. For safety reasons, conventional arrangements provide for a complete mechanical isolation of the memory device (3) during transmission, said memory device being configured as a data card. In order to reduce cost without compromising safety, the inventive tachograph (2) comprises a first encoding unit (32) associated to an interface (9) of the tachograph (2) and the data memory device (3) comprises a second encoding unit (42) to enable data (50) transmission in encoded form.
