Abstract (en)
The muffler has two pipes (6, 7) on ends of an exhaust inlet (3) or exhaust outlets (4, 5) of a housing (2). One of the pipes (6) is switchable between an open state and a closed state by a control device (8). The pipe is acoustically coupled to a silencer system (12) such that the silencer system is active when the pipe (6) is opened and closed, where the silencer system has a different damping characteristic when the pipe (6) is opened. The silencer system has pipe and chamber volumes (22, 23) that are acoustically coupled to the pipe (6).

Die Erfindung betrifft einen Schalldämpfer (1) für eine Abgasanlage einer Brennkraftmaschine, insbesondere eines Kraftfahrzeugs, mit einem Gehäuse (2), das wenigstens einen Abgaseinlass (3) und wenigstens einen Abgasauslass (4, 5) aufweist und das einlassseitig oder auslassseitig wenigstens zwei Rohre (6, 7) aufweist, von denen zumindest eines mit einer Steuereinrichtung (8) zumindest zwischen einem Offenzustand und einem Schließzustand schaltbar ist und mit einem Dämpfersystem (12) akustisch gekoppelt ist, derart, dass das Dämpfersystem (12) bei geöffnetem und bei geschlossenem Rohr (6) aktiv ist und bei geöffnetem Rohr (6) eine andere Dämpfungscharakteristik aufweist als bei geschlossenem Rohr (6).
