[origin: WO2006003114A2] The invention relates to a switching contact for vacuum interrupters, having a radial or axial magnetic field and comprising a switching contact carrier and a contact plate. Said switching contact carrier contains a coil for generating a magnetic field, said coil being formed by slitting the wall of a pot-like contact carrier. According to the invention, the outer diameter (DS) of the slitted wall (23) of the pot-like carrier is smaller than the diameter (DK) of the contact plate (25) located thereon. The inventive switching contact is also provided with an annular supporting body (20) which is inserted between the contact plate (25) and the base (22a) of the contact carrier (22) and surrounds the contact carrier (22) at least in the slitted region. A vacuum gap (30) is provided between the outer supporting body (20) and the slitted wall (23).
