[origin: WO2006005086A1] The invention relates to an actuating mechanism (1) for a swivel-mounted actuating arm (2), especially for driving a lid (3) of an item of furniture. Said mechanism comprises a spring device (5) including a biased actuating element (13) and a translatory mechanism (7) which translates the movement of the actuating element (13) into a swiveling movement of the actuating arm (2). Said translatory mechanism (7) comprises at least one adjusting device (8) for varying the translation ratio between the movement of the actuating element (13) and the swiveling movement of the actuating arm (2).
