Abstract (en)

The procedure, for use with a solid and inflexible safety barrier (10) equipped with a metal rail near its upper end (13), uses a rail (20) that crumples under the force of the ascending component of impact energy and absorbs at least a part of it. The rail is fixed to the barrier at intervals by flexible strip brackets (22) which can be in the shape of a U or W or incorporate other flexible features.
