Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2006008422A1] The invention relates to a method of producing an insulator which is intended for high voltage use from a polymer matrix composition containing a mineral reinforcement. The invention is characterised in that the method comprises the following steps consisting in: mechanically mixing a determined quantity of a hardening agent and a first type of mineral reinforcement comprising a determined volume of particles of one or more submicronic dielectric materials; degassing the first mixture thus obtained; adding a determined quantity of polymer matrix and a second type of mineral reinforcement comprising a determined volume of particles of one or more micronic dielectric materials to the first mixture; mechanically mixing the second mixture thus obtained, said mixing being performed by means of attrition grinding; degassing the final mixture obtained; and forming the insulator by moulding the final mixture such that, once obtained, the insulator has a minimum thickness of at least 10 mm.
