[origin: WO2006008273A1] The aim of the invention is to provide circuit breakers with an improved functionality and a more compact structure. One such circuit breaker comprises a housing (1) containing a switching device (2), a short-circuit triggering device (3), and a fault current triggering device (5). In order to render circuit breakers more compact, especially in terms of the width thereof, the centre of the switching device (2), the centre of the short-circuit triggering device (3), and the centre of the fault current triggering device (5) are arranged essentially in a plane. In this way, for example line safety switches are combined with fault current safety switches in a module, the width of the module being a unit of 18 mm.
