[origin: WO2006010710A1] The invention relates to a frame (5) for a wheelchair, to which wheels (27, 29) and a seat may be fixed, comprising a seating surface section (33), for mounting a seating surface (1) and a backrest section (34) for mounting a backrest (2), whereby the backrest (2) may be folded into a position (2) running essentially parallel to the seating surface (1). The invention further relates to a wheelchair with such a frame (5), to which wheels (27, 29) and a seat with a seating surface (1) and backrest (2) are fixed. The aim of the invention is the production of a wheelchair which can be arranged in a novel manner in a space-saving form. Said aim is achieved, whereby the backrest section (34) may be folded into a transport position within the frame (5) and beneath the seating surface section (33).
