[origin: WO2005107979A1] The invention relates to a gas washing device for a metallurgical melting pot (1). Said device comprises a conical ceramic body (2), whose upper face (3) comes into contact with molten metal (4) in the melting pot (1). The ceramic body (2) comprises a static external element (5) and an axially displaceable internal element (6). The device also comprises a pneumatic drive (15), which is used to axially displace the internal element (6) back and forth in relation to the external element (5) of the ceramic body (2) between a closed position and an open position. The device is equipped with a spring (18), whose spring force maintains the internal element (6) in the closed position and a gas-tight sealed volume (9) that is situated on the underside (7) of the ceramic body (2), said volume being connected to a gas supply for the introduction of washing gas. The aim of the invention is to improve a gas washing device of this type. To achieve this, the pneumatic drive (15) comprises a deformable membrane (21) that is connected to the internal element (6) and the pressure differential between the pressure of the washing gas in the gas-tight sealed volume (9) and the ambient pressure acts on said membrane.
