Abstract (en)
The backrest (25) can be moved inside a u-shaped frame (13) to be rotated around a transversally positioned bar (11) at its lower end. The unit (13,25) is moved by a linear drive (33) also reducing and increasing the height of the lower segment of the backrest (17,21). A strap (43) is guided from a stationary part (45) of the drive (33) to the upper bar (17) of the frame causing the backrest (25) and the armrests (29) to move simultaneously. Stabilizing units (51) keep the armrests (29) in a horizontal position. ETAILED DESCRIPTION - An independent claim is given for a wheelchair comprising the balancing and stabilizing mechanism.
