Abstract (en)
A device 42 is disclosed for storing data and which is associated with a mobile or cellular telecommunications network SIM 15. The device 42 includes a store 44 for storing the data and near field communication means for enabling the data to be read from the store 44. The device 42 may be embodied in a mobile telecommunications device 1. The device 42 may be read by a near field communication reader 48. This reading may be performed by the reader 48 providing power to the device 42. Therefore, data can be read from the store 44 of the device 42 even if the mobile terminal 1 is damaged or has an exhausted battery. The store 44 of the device 42 may be synchronised with a SIM memory 38. The data stored in the store 44 may be medical data. This medical data may be retrieved by medical personnel using an appropriate reader 48.
