Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2005123340A1] The invention relates to a method of grooving or counter-bevelling the periphery of an ophthalmic lens. The inventive method is carried out in a grinding machine comprising a lens support which is equipped with means for rotating the lens (15) in relation to a first axis (A-A'), and a grinding wheel (51, 53) which is used for grooving and counter-bevelling purposes and which can be inclined with respect to said first axis (A-A'). The inventive method comprises the following steps consisting in: determining (101) a grooving or counter-bevelling profile (109), calculating (103) a single treatment angle ( alpha 0) corresponding to the profile (109), adjusting (105) the angle of inclination of the axis (C-C') of the grooving and counter-bevelling wheel (51, 53) to the value of the single treatment angle ( alpha 0), and forming (107) the groove (131) or counter-bevel in the lens (15) by means of grinding while maintaining the angle of inclination ( alpha 0) constant. The invention can be used for the grooving and counter-bevelling of high-curvature lenses.
