[origin: EP1775101A1] The sleeving procedure consists of winding a synthetic tape (32) of a deformable material over the cable (10) in overlapping spirals (62) and then passing it through a die (71) to smooth out the overlapping edges and form a sleeve of even thickness. The synthetic tape is produced from a polymer powder and a lubricating agent such as Isopar (RTM) produced by the Exxon Corporation, extruded and rolled into a tapee between 25 and 600 micrometres thick.
