[origin: FR2889513A1] The method involves alternatively using two separated load curves (B, C) depending on the radius (P) of a luffing jib tower crane as a result of the position of a jib of the crane. The curve (B) is used between the minimum radius (Pm) and an intermediate radius (PO). The curve (C) is used between the intermediate radius and the maximum radius (PM) corresponding to a greater load moment. The curve (C) is obtained by homothetic transformation of the curve (B). An independent claim is also included for a device for controlling the load of a luffing jib tower crane.
