Abstract (en)
[origin: EP1775369A1] The opposing conducting armatures (46,48) of a capacitive sensor (45) form an electrical capacitor and are arranged rigidly on the part rotating with the drum (16) to form a gap between the armatures for an insulating dielectric. The capacitance variation is detected by a measuring device (54) connected to the armatures by measuring cables (56,58). If the rotary movement of the drum is interrupted, there is no capacitance variation of the sensor and the drum is stopped. A fault signal is transmitted to a program control (40) through a signal cable (60). An independent claim is included for the method of detecting the rotary movement of a drum of a domestic layer.
