[origin: WO2006015712A1] The invention relates to a reversible insert (14) for a slicer (10) for chopping up items to be cut (30) such as fruit, vegetables etc. Said insert comprises a base plate (23), one side of said base plate being embodied as a bearing surface (24) for guiding the item to be cut (30) in the longitudinal direction on a cutting edge (22) of a blade (20) of the slicer (10) in a first reversing position of the insert (14). The inventive reversible insert also comprises first fixing means (34, 36, 38, 40) for fixing the insert (14) to a base body (12) of the slicer (10) in the first reversing position, and second fixing means (42, 38, 44) for fixing the insert (14) to the base body (12) in a second reversing position. The second fixing means (42, 38, 44) are arranged in such a way that the insert (14) covers the cutting edge (22) of the blade (20) from above in the second reversing position.
