Abstract (en)

[origin: GB2417054A] A bush comprises a tubular bearing 11, a sleeve 12 surrounding the bearing 11, and a resilient member 13 disposed between the bearing 11 and the sleeve 12. The resilient member 13 has a convex or concave surface which co-operates with a conversely convex or concave surface on at least one of the bearing 11 or the sleeve 12, such that the resilient member 13 is compressed upon displacing the bearing 11 relative to the sleeve 12 in a longitudinal direction. The surfaces of the resilient member 13 and the at least one bearing 11 and sleeve 12 have a non-spherical radii of curvature. Preferably only one of the bearing 11 and sleeve 12 is convex or concave and the resilient member 13 is secured to the other of the bearing 11 and sleeve 12, or alternatively, both the bearing 11 and sleeve 12 may be concave or convex. A lubricant may be provided between the resilient member 13 and at least one of the bearing 11 and sleeve 12. The bush could include a resilient member 13 which includes recesses 23 and protrusions, which cooperate with recesses and protrusions 22 that are either formed on the bearing 11 or the sleeve 12.
