[origin: WO2006018106A1] The invention relates to a method and a device for controlling a converting machine for sheet material. The aim of the invention is to provide one such method and device for perceptibly reducing the set-up times of a converting machine for sheet material, comprising at least one cylinder which carries a printing mould and can be individually driven. To this end, inter alia, the pressurised contact between the plate cylinder and adjacent rubber blanket cylinder (8) is eliminated; the inking rolls are separated, on the drive side, from the main drive and the gear train of the sheet guiding cylinder (6), for cleaning, and are temporarily coupled, on the drive side, to the directly driveable plate cylinder (10); the plate cylinder (10) and inking rolls are driven at a first speed, and the rubber blanket cylinder (8) and the adjacent sheet guiding cylinder (6) are driven at a second speed by means of the main drive and the gear train; the temporary drive coupling is detached after the cleaning; and the inking rolls are coupled to the main drive and the gear train and the pressurised contact between the plate cylinders and the rubber blanket cylinders is re-established.
