[origin: WO2006015585A1] Disclosed is a cooling duct piston for an internal combustion engine comprising heat pipes. In order to improve dissipation of heat from the thermally loaded piston areas while preventing thermal tensions, liquid-filled heat pipes (6) that are provided with an evaporator end (6a) and a condenser end (6b) are disposed in bores (5) of the cooling duct (7) which are oriented towards the bottom of the piston. Said heat pipes (6) are arranged such that the evaporator ends (6a) terminate at the end of the bores which faces the piston bottom while the condenser ends (6b) terminate in the closed cooling duct (7).
