[origin: WO2006018162A1] An axial piston compressor, particularly a compressor for the air-conditioning system of a motor vehicle, comprising a housing and a compressor unit which is arranged inside the housing and driven by a drive shaft and used to suction and compress a cooling agent, wherein the compressor unit comprises pistons which move axially back and forth in a cylinder block and a pivoting plate (a slanting plate, a swash-plate or a pivoting ring). The pivoting plate is configured or mounted in such a way that the tipping behaviour thereof acts in an automatically limiting manner and such that when the speed of the compressor is high, particularly very high indeed or when it reaches a maximum, the maximal pivoting plate deflection angle a<SUB>max </SUB>is smaller than the maximum deflection angle at low compressor speeds.
