[origin: EP1779753A1] A pressure cooker has a lid secured by a locking system, e.g. bayonet closure, and a rocker action safety catch which operates together with a pressure activated element to prevent loosening the lid when pressurized. The safety catch can be fitted to the lip of the vessel or is incorporated in a compact mounting inside the handle. The catch is set automatically when the lid is clamped onto the vessel.
