[origin: WO2006009395A1] Disclosed herein are a natural antiviral agent having high inhibitory activity against a broad spectrum of viruses without adverse side effects, obtainable using lactic acid bacteria isolated from kimchi, and a composition comprising the natural antiviral agent. The natural antiviral agent is safe to the body and can be applied to compositions, such as fodder, beverages, food, medicine, and cosmetics, imparting antimicrobial activity thereto.
