Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2006018005A1] The invention relates to a ball and socket joint, especially for chassis modules and steering modules of motor vehicles, said joint comprising a housing consisting of two housing halves, and a ball socket provided with a rounded bearing surface. Said bearing surface is received in a bearing shell produced from an elastic plastic and fixed in a recess of the joint housing. The invention also relates to a method for producing one such ball sleeve joint, whereby the two housing halves (3a, 3b) are pressed together in the direction of the longitudinal axis of the ball and socket joint (1) with defined compressive forces during the assembly of the ball and socket joint (1), and are held in the assembly position pre-defined by the compressive forces by means of at least one material fit connection (14) between the housing halves (3a, 3b).
