Abstract (en)
[origin: WO2006024423A1] The invention relates to a computer-based diagnostic test which can exchange information with control devices which are built into motor vehicles with the aid of a diagnostic programme, via a diagnostic interface in addition to data lines. The motor vehicle-sided control devices are provided with programme routines for the on-board diagnosis of the control device and are placed on identifiable errors in the form of error codes in reserved memory areas. The diagnostic programme implemented in the diagnostic test selects the error codes from the reserved memory area, interprets the error codes and displays them on a display together with the interpretations. In order to examine to what extent the undertaken repairs have been successful, a status polling is carried out with the aid of the diagnosis programme implemented in the diagnosis test. During said status polling, the status information of said error codes known in the system are questioned and answered. All error codes are displayed, whereby the error setting conditions are either tested positive or the test conditions are not met in order to carry out said test. Said diagnostic test also enables a method for improving repair verification to be carried out.
