[origin: EP1783694A1] The invention relates to a low-power-consumption electronic proximity lock comprising an automatic actuation system which measures variations in the capacitance of the environment of a plate (3). According to the invention, the aforementioned plate serves as a proximity sensor which, together with the environment thereof and an earth connection, forms a dummy capacitor, having a capacitance which varies depending on the proximity of a body. In this way, upon detection of the proximity of a body, the automatic actuation system activates a contact less communication system which emits a communication signal, e.g. a radio frequency signal, which is intended to establish a data exchange with a card. When a card is within proximity of, and corresponds to, the lock, the communication system transmits an order to the lock control system and performs the appropriate actions in accordance with the type of data exchanged.
