[origin: WO2006008258A1] Disclosed is a grinding wheel (1) for producing external or internal ball threads (3) on workpieces (2), particularly ball screw shafts or ball screw nuts for motor vehicle steering systems. Said grinding wheel (1) comprises a grinding element (4) whose outer contour is adapted to the ball thread (3) that is to be produced. The grinding element (4) is provided with at least two stages (5, 7) which are adapted to the ball thread (3) that is to be produced. A first stage (5) has a smaller diameter and is used for pre-machining the workpieces (2) while another stage (7) has a greater diameter and is used for finishing the workpieces (2).
