[origin: WO2006015802A2] The invention relates to a method for producing primary alcohols made of aldehydes with the aid of whole cell catalysts or isolated enzymes. An alcohol dehydrogenase and an enzyme capable of regenerating the cofactor can be used wherein, preferably, aldehyd can be present for coverting a substrate concentration of >150 mM.
