Abstract (en)
[origin: WO2006002858A1] The invention relates to a safety chamber for protecting in particular information technology equipment, said chamber comprising lateral walls that are composed of lateral wall elements (1), assembled in a modular manner by means of respective connecting regions and contain a door (3). The chamber also comprises a ceiling that is composed of ceiling elements (2). According to the invention, the lateral wall elements (1) and the ceiling elements (2) are configured in the form of boxes, comprising metal sheets (11) that are located on the flat external faces and a heat-resistant fire protection filler material (10) that is embedded between said sheets and neighbouring lateral wall elements (1) and ceiling elements (2) are interconnected by means of butt joints. To achieve a stable, secure connection and a simple assembly, the connecting regions in the butt joints are configured as tongue-and-groove assemblies. To form the groove (12.1), the metal sheets (11) of both external faces protrude on one longitudinal side of the lateral wall elements (1) and the ceiling elements (2) protrude beyond the filler material (10) and to form the tongue said metal sheets extend as far as the opposite longitudinal side comprising the filler material (10), to which optional sealing means (15) can be applied. The thickness of the groove (12.1) and the thickness of the tongue are adapted to slot into one another in a precision fit.
