Energy absorbing component for absorption of kinetic energy by deformation with formation of sections of siphon-like (sic) structure obtained from Al-Mg-Si alloy. The grain size perpendicular (sic) to the component surface the effective grain size (as measured in the ST direction) is less than 100 micron and the component structure is substantially non-crystalline and the grains in the L-ST directions have an extension ratio (L-ST) of less than 4:1.

Ein Energieabsorptionsbauteil für ein Fahrzeug zum Absorbieren kinetischer Energie durch Verformung unter Ausbildung einer zumindest abschnittsweise faltenbalgähnlichen Struktur, hergestellt aus einer Aluminiumlegierung des Typs Al-Mg-Si, ist dadurch bestimmt, dass die sich rechtwinklig zur Oberfläche des Bauteils erstreckende effektive Korngröße (gemessen in ST -Richtung) der Körner kleiner als 100 µm ist und dass das Gefüge des Bauteils zumindest weitestgehend nicht rekristallisiert ist und die Körner in den L-ST-Richtungen ein Streckungsverhältnis ( L:ST ) von mehr als 4:1 aufweisen.
