Abstract (en)
The method involves discretely transmitting data packets via a wireless unidirectional communication link (16) by a transmission device (12) in the region of a pay parking area (14). The data packets are received by a user terminal arranged in a motor vehicle (10), which is parked in the parking area, and are further processed, where the data packets contain information such as user`s identification number, a sequence number, date, time and/or place. A display is activated by a special data packet. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a transmission device for a method for recording and billing for the use of a pay parking area (2) a user terminal for a method for recording and billing for the use of a pay parking area (3) a supplementary unit with an interface (4) a method for operating a supplementary unit (5) a method for checking the status of a user terminal.
