Abstract (en)
The cable has a screen (20) surrounding a central core (12) and electrically isolated from the core. The screen is constituted of a tape (32) comprising an insulating substrate and a metallic layer arranged on the substrate. The tape has a longitudinal edge (28) covering another longitudinal edge (30), where the two edges are bonded together by ultrasonic bonding until parts of the metallic layer are in contact with each other. An independent claim is also included for a method of fabricating a cable.

L'invention concerne un câble électrique comportant au moins une âme centrale (12) et un écran (20) entourant l'âme centrale et électriquement isolé de l'âme centrale. Selon l'invention, l'écran (20) est constitué d'un ruban composite (32) comprenant un substrat isolant et au moins une couche métallique déposée sur le substrat, l'un (28) des deux bords longitudinaux du ruban recouvrant l'autre bord (30) et les deux bords étant soudés entre eux par ultrasons jusqu'à ce que les parties de la couche métallique des deux bords longitudinaux soient en contact, formant ainsi une continuité électrique. Ce type de câble peut être utilisé dans le domaine des télécommunications à haut débit.
