A device for picking up functional elements (4) which can move along rails (3) mounted parallel to the longitudinal axis of a flat-bed knitting machine, especially thread guides (4), with a pick-up finger (13) which can be brought into and out of contact with (4), in which there is also at least one switching projection (12, 14) mounted before or after the finger (13) in the running direction of (4) and able to be brought into and out of contact with a switching surface on (4) to trigger its switching function.
