[origin: WO2006015002A1] A system and method for a biological interface system (100) that processes multicellular signals of a patient (500) and controls an external device (300) is disclosed. The system includes a sensor that detects the multicellular signals and a processing unit for producing the control signal based on the multicellular signals. The system further includes a permission routine that requires an approval of a clinician or other specific operator of the system when specific system parameters are changed. Embedded automatic and semi-automatic calibration and configuration systems are also disclosed.
