[origin: WO2006021230A1] Disclosed is an irradiation apparatus (1) comprising a source of radiation (3), at least one treatment chamber (19) which is provided with a shield (23) and a treatment point (21) and into which a therapeutic beam (13) is introduced, and at least one access (37) that leads into the treatment chamber (19). Said access (37) is characterized in that the same is equipped with at least one door (35) which is preferably movable in a vertical and/or a horizontal direction. Said door (35) is part of the shield (23) and is positioned on the same level as the treatment point (21) or upstream thereof in the direction of the beam from the perspective of the treatment point (21).
