[origin: WO2006027455A1] The invention relates to a method and an installation for loading and unloading compressed natural gas on ships (24), said ships being suitable for sea navigation and comprising receiving means (28), said compressed natural gas being storable in tubes (30), installed on said receiving means (28). The installation comprises fixed containers (26) for housing said tubes (30), support means (10, 12) to hold a container (26) supported above the sea surface at a given height, means for lowering said receiving means (28), such as to carry the same below said fixed container (26) and to lift said receiving means (28) such as to lift said fixed container (26) above said given height such as to support the same on said receiving means (28).
