Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2006026967A1] The invention relates to a motor vehicle seat which comprises a back rest having on its front a supporting surface for supporting the back of an occupant seated on the motor vehicle seat, and a headrest having on its front a supporting surface for supporting the head of an occupant seated on the motor vehicle seat. The back rest comprises a back rest base and a back rest top which can be folded in relation thereto, and both parts have corresponding contact surfaces on their fronts. Both back rest parts can be positioned in relation to each other by means of a locking mechanism in such a manner that their contact surfaces form a defined supporting surface for supporting the back of an occupant seated on the motor vehicle seat. The back rest top, in the event of a crash, can be folded down and away from the back of an occupant seated on the seat, against the effect of the locking mechanism. The seat is characterized in that the headrest (3) is positioned in such a manner and/or can be displaced, when the back rest top (2) is folded, in such a manner that the supporting surface (30) of the headrest (3) is not folded down at the same time the contact surface (20) of the back rest top (2) is folded down.
