Abstract (en)
In accordance with one embodiment of the present invention a combustor (10) is provided. The combustor (10) includes a combustion chamber (14), a first inlet (22) adapted to provide a first air flow (20) to the combustion chamber (14) in a first direction, a fuel controller (32) adapted to provide a fuel flow (34) to the combustion chamber (14) in the first direction, an opposing inlet (28) adapted to provide an opposing air flow (26) to the combustion chamber (14) in a second direction generally in opposition to the first direction, and wherein the first air flow (20) and the fuel flow (34) interact with the opposing air (26) flow to form a stagnation zone (38) in the combustion chamber (14).
