[origin: WO2006034941A2] The invention relates to a method for entering characters on a keyboard comprising a first character key (TSP), e.g. the space bar, to which a first character (SP), e.g. a blank space is assigned and a second key (TQ), to which a second character, e.g. q and a third character, e.g. @ are assigned. According to the invention, when the first character key (TSP) is depressed, a timer is started. Before the timer has run out and whilst the first character key (TSP) is depressed, the second key (TQ) can be pressed to obtain the third character ( @ ). Before the timer has run out, and before the second key (TQ) is depressed, if the first character key is released (TSP), the first character (SP) is obtained. Once the timer has run out and the first character key (TSP) has been released, if the second key (TQ) is depressed, the second character ( q ) is obtained.
