[origin: WO2006015776A1] The invention relates to an optical image converter system to be used in video cameras. Said image converter system comprises a recording lens (10) that is to be oriented towards an object and generates a real intermediate image of the object with a defined image size and depth of focus on a first translucent projection disk (14) defining a first image plane (12). The inventive image converter system further comprises a prism arrangement (20) that is positioned in the beam path (13) as well as an image converter lens (16) which is disposed behind the recording lens (10) in the beam path (13), is oriented towards the rear face of the projection disk (14), and is used for generating a real main image of the object on a second image plane (18). In order to design said image converter system in a compact manner, the projection disk (14) is placed in an intermediate space (24) between two facing, parallel prism surfaces within the prism arrangement.
