Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2006026980A1] The invention relates to a system for stabilizing supporting structures for machines, installations, buildings and other constructions. Said system simultaneously reinforces corresponding constructions and stabilizes them against oscillations as they are especially caused by earthquakes. For this purpose, adjacent supporting elements are braced with each other by means of tensioning ropes, tensioning rods or beam ties. According to the invention, at least one monoaxially acting auxiliary element is interposed between the tensioning elements and is configured as a parallel arrangement between at least one spring and at least one viscous or viscoelastic damper. The tensioning elements which brace the supporting elements with each other and the one or more auxiliary elements interposed between them are combined to give a stabilization unit in which the tensioning elements and the one or more auxiliary elements are connected in series with respect to each other. According to the invention, the auxiliary elements generate a prestress for the tensioning elements.
