Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2006037690A1] The invention relates to a method for operating an internal combustion engine (1), according to which fuel is injected into a combustion chamber (4) of a cylinder (3) of the internal combustion engine (1) in at least two partial injection quantities, an actual torque supplied by the internal combustion engine (1) is determined from operational parameters of the internal combustion engine (1), said actual torque is compared to an admissible torque, and an error reaction is induced if the actual torque is at a predefined ratio to the admissible torque. According to the inventive method, a moment efficiency (eta_M) of the respective partial injection is taken into account when determining the actual torque, thus allowing the actual torque to be monitored more accurately.
