[origin: WO2006040292A1] The invention relates to a paper roll holder (10) used in the form of an ambient air freshener, in particular for toilet paper rolls. The inventive holder comprises an internal space and a longitudinal axis (14) which is in a horizontal position when it is in the operating state. According to said invention, a movable membrane element (54) is mounted in the internal space, extends along the longitudinal axis of the paper roll holder (10) and divides the internal space into two chambers (72, 74), wherein said membrane element is mounted in such a way that it is movable in the operating position about the longitudinal axis of the rotating paper roll holder (10) in such a way the volumes of the chambers defined by the membrane element are modified in the opposite directions and the chambers (72, 74) can be provided with connection holes (82) which are closable and make it possible to exchange air with environment. A system consisting of the paper roll holder, a paper roll held thereby and a device for holding the paper roll and using the paper roll holder are also disclosed.
