[origin: WO2006030242A2] The present invention relates to a child seat, in particular a child safety seat for vehicles such as cars. We describe a child seat apparatus for a vehicle, the assembly comprising a base, for contact, in use, with a seat of the vehicle, and a seat surface; wherein the seat base apparatus comprises an adjustment mechanism whereby a height and an inclination of the seat surface with respect to the base is adjustable. Suitably, the adjustment mechanism comprises a slide member comprising a pair of spaced slide elements in a base portion of the seat, each slide element having at least one elongate slot for receipt of a respective seat axle provided on an underside surface of a seat portion of the seat. Preferably, each slide element comprises two elongate slots, defining front and rear slide element slots respectively. Preferably, each elongate slot is generally arcuate.
