Abstract (en)
[origin: WO2006037693A1] The invention relates to fuel system (100) for an internal combustion engine, which is provided with a fuel pump (7) that delivers fuel from a low pressure zone (4, 6) to a high pressure zone (8, 9). A metering device (102) varies the volume flow arriving at the fuel pump (7). A pressure control device (24) limits the pressure in the high pressure zone (8, 9) and is provided with a valve element (42) which is impinged upon at one end by a spring and at the other end by the pressure prevalent in the high pressure zone (8, 9). The system is also provided with a coupling device (106) which mechanically couples an actuator (21) of the metering device (102) at least temporarily and at least indirectly to the pressure control device (24). The invention is characterized in that the coupling device (106) impinges, at least indirectly, the valve element (42) of the pressure control device (24) with a force effective in the direction of opening of the pressure control device (24) when the metering device (102) is closed or almost closed.
