Abstract (en)
A tobacco particle separator comprises an elongated trough with parallel concave traps, each located under an air jet (14) emerging from an overhead rhomboid plug separated by a gap (25) from the adjacent plug (1). The plugs sub-divide the trough into upper and lower chambers. An independent claim is included for tobacco particle grading, in which air jets are directed at the parallel concave traps. Light particles are raised by the flow of air (15) to the upper chamber for removal and leave heavier particles (13) in the traps.
