Machine for producing a web of fibrous material on a water-permeable endless belt (5) comprises a high-vacuum suction system upstream of a press unit comprising a drying cylinder (12) and a press roll (13). An independent claim is also included for producing a web of fibrous material, where the web is carried on a water-permeable endless belt through a press nip between a drying cylinder and a press roll, by applying suction to the belt by means of a high-vacuum suction system upstream of the press nip.
