[origin: DE202006009823U1] The device (10) for contactless removal of an electrostatic electrical double layer from a flat electrically insulating material (11) has a contactless compensating device (16-19) for the feed of charge particles to the flat material in a first region for compensation of the charges at least in one layer plane of the double layer, an electrically conducting element (13) for forming an electrical near field in a second region, and a field strength measuring device (15) allocated to the second region. The compensating unit on the input side is connected to the field strength measuring device.
