[origin: WO2006029724A2] The invention relates to a detoxicant solution which comprises 0.1 to 50 parts by weight of at least one Friedel-Crafts reagent (Lewis acids) (I), 0.5 to 80 parts by weight of one or more of the following special solvents (II): dimethylsulfoxide, 1,3-dimethyl-2-imidazolidinone or octamethyl-cyclotetrasiloxane, and 1 to 80 parts by weight of an alcohol solvent (III), the term parts by weight relating to 100 parts by weight of the entire detoxicant solution. The detoxicant solution may contain 1H-benzotriazole as the anticorrosive agent and a saturated alicyclic hydrocarbon comprising 10 to 16 carbon atoms as the protective coating former and is especially suitable for decontaminating surfaces that are contaminated by chemical and/or biological warfare agents.
